What is focus ?
Focus, alertness, and concentration are crucial for productivity and well-being. Neurofeedback, a technique that measures and trains brainwave patterns, can help improve these cognitive skills. By providing real-time feedback and personalized training, neurofeedback enables individuals to enhance their attention span, filter out distractions, and achieve better cognitive performance. It’s a non-invasive, drug-free method for optimizing mental abilities, making it valuable for academic, professional, and personal success.
Therapy, treatment and medication
ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges with attention, impulsiveness, and hyperactivity. The diagnosis of ADHD is made through an evaluation of symptoms against criteria outlined in the DSM IV and requires a comprehensive assessment of symptoms over time, as well as the exclusion of other potential causes. While the diagnosis of ADHD is based on behavioral observations, research has shown that individuals with ADHD often exhibit specific patterns of brain activity, as measured by a QEEG. On average, individuals with ADHD tend to show lower brain activity and underactivity in specific regions, such as the frontal brain areas and basal ganglia, which are involved in attention, concentration, planning, and behavior control. However, it is important to note that there can be significant variability in brain patterns among individuals with ADHD.
Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback has been an established treatment for ADHD and ADD since the early 1980s. It offers a holistic approach to addressing ADHD by recognizing it as a problem in the brain’s ability to regulate itself. In a constantly stimulating world, the brain must switch between different levels of wakefulness and attention. Research has indicated that the fundamental ability to focus is intact in individuals with ADHD, but rather, the issue lies in their ability to switch between different states of attention. EEG patterns in individuals with ADHD and ADD often show decreased overall alertness and increased slow brain activity, with decreased rapid brain activity. Neurofeedback helps train the brain to reduce this slow activity, resulting in increased alertness, improved concentration, and a more calm and composed demeanor. In some cases, individuals with ADHD may have normal EEG patterns, and in such instances, the focus of the neurofeedback training would be to enhance their ability to switch from a state of rest to a state of concentration.
Neurofeedback is an effective training for improving focus and alertness, which targets the brain's self-regulating capacity. Research has shown that individuals with concentration difficulties tend to have decreased alertness and difficulties switching from a state of rest to concentration. With neurofeedback, the brain can be trained to reduce slow activity, increase alertness, and improve concentration and behavior.
Perfect method
Jeremy informed his teacher that all the teachers at his school have noticed a positive improvement in his performance and behavior. He is motivated, full of energy, and happily shares how much he enjoys school, both in class and at home.

The debilitating symptoms of my focus issues have significantly decreased. I highly recommend neurofeedback to anyone struggling with focus issues. I started my sessions in July and completed around 20 sessions until September, after which I gradually reduced them. The results have been truly transformative.

With neurofeedback, I now sleep deeply, and waking up is a breeze. After several sessions, I even stopped taking my medication. I’ve noticed a significant increase in my energy levels and my ability to tackle daily tasks with ease.
What is trained in neurofeedback for improving focus?
In general, individuals with difficulties in focus tend to have a decreased level of arousal and vigilance in the brain, which is reflected by an increase in slow brain waves like theta and alpha activity. To address this, neurofeedback therapy aims to train these slow brain waves down and faster brain activity up. Additionally, some individuals with may display other EEG patterns, such as beta spindles.
Are the results lasting?
The American scientist, Dr. Joel Lubar, conducted a study on the long-term effects of neurofeedback treatment on individuals with focus issues. After 10 years, he found that the improvements in behavior and EEG patterns observed during treatment were permanent. The researchers suspect that this is due to the normalization of specific circuits in the brain that regulate arousal levels. This theory is supported by various evidence, including the observed improvement in behavior and calming of thoughts as well as increased energy consumption, as shown in brain scans. It is well established in clinical practice that neurofeedback therapy can lead to permanent improvements in various conditions.
